8:44 a.m. The Indianapolis Colts closed their practice facility after “several individuals” tested positive for COVID-19, the team said Friday. The Colts wrote on Twitter that the team will work remotely. The team scheduled to host the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
8 a.m. Texas saw an additional 4,927 COVID cases Thursday for a total of 840,221 statewide, according to a Houston Chronicle analysis of state data.
Another 89 deaths brings the fatality count to 17,192 statewide.
The new cases were higher than 69 percent of all other days in the pandemic, while new deaths were higher than 65 percent.
The state’s rolling average for new cases is now at 4,391.6.
The Houston region’s case count is 211,380 , up 604 from yesterday. Harris County added 354 cases today, 143 of which are older cases and is at 152,977 cases total. There have been 3,608 deaths in the Houston region.
The positive test rate is now at 8.04 percent. The rolling average of viral tests is now at 58,398.
Statewide, there were 4,263 patients hospitalized for lab-confirmed COVID-19. There are 65,391 total staffed hospital beds, 11,460 beds available and 959 ICU beds available. There are 7,406 ventilators available.
